Description
The Diversity Resources Project. Aparna Zambare, Central Michigan University Libraries, Mount Pleasant, MI 48859 This paper will discuss how we developed the Diversity Resources Project in the Central Michigan University Libraries and how we maintain it. Developed by the Reference Department in the fall of 1998, the Diversity Resources Project is a web site that aims at supporting and enhancing research and teaching related to multicultural issues and topics. The site has also been developed to provide information on Library collections and services, as well as links to outside resources that contain information relevant to multicultural and diversity issues. The site has now grown considerably and it contains bibliographies on a wide range of diversity topics including diversity in art, diversity and business, diversity in higher education, Hispanic heritage, lesbian and gay families, minority health, racial diversity and mass media, and Woodland Indian art. Additionally, the reference librarians at CMU also write reviews evaluating books and other resources dealing with diversity or multicultural issues. What is more interesting about the site is the collaborative effort that goes into the making of the project.
